Five-Year Goals

It is my aspiration to continue my research pertaining to aspects of teacher education and children's literature. To that end, my goals reflect continued research resulting in publications in books, professional scholarly journals, and presentations at conferences at the state, regional, national, and international levels.

Since teacher education is my chosen field, my goals include continuation of my teaching career, helping pre-service teachers to bridge the gap between theory and practice, to become reflective, knowledgeable educators, who will positively impact the future. I plan to continue working in a PDS environment.

In addition, I hope to publish several children's books (in process), and to capitalize on my friendships with children's book authors and illustrators, through interviews and co-presenting with them at professional conferences. I plan to publish a series of biographies on contemporary children's authors.

I would greatly like to develop a study abroad course in Italy, building on my previous experience teaching there and my Italian language skills. This is a valuable aspect for pre-service teachers to gain global education experiences.

I will stay involved with CLA, NCTE and ACEI, as a board member, and as a reviewer for the Journal of Children' s Literature.
